My background is not neat and tidy. I started as a college professor and earned my PhD in Organizational Communication studying how people make decisions, build systems, and either follow through or don't. Then I left academia to find out if any of it worked in the real world.
I consulted with private practice owners scaling past eight figures, an internationally recognized fine artist taking his work to global markets, and independent service-based founders — therapists, attorneys, CPAs, consultants, creatives — trying to build something sustainable without burning out in the process.
Different businesses. Different industries. But the same problems kept showing up. Founders responding to whatever was in front of them instead of building towards their larger dreams. Founders convinced one busy month meant they were having their best year ever and then having a slow week and deciding everything was broken. Founders who kept solving the wrong problems, or avoided making the call entirely and watched the same issue come back every quarter. Founders with strong plans and no follow through, not because they lacked commitment, but because the system to execute them was never there.

I live in Los Angeles with my mini Bernedoodle, Nico, who turns three this year and has strong opinions about the best dog parks and hiking trails. Before consulting I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kosovo, and started what has become a habit of showing up in unfamiliar places and figuring out how to get things done. I have been to over 20 countries and 47 states. Maine, North Dakota, and Hawaii are still on the list.
